CrystalMaker Guide: Annotation
Annotating Plots
CrystalMaker allows you to annotate plots, displaying multi-line text boxes with lines and arrows. You can specify text styles, fonts and colours and easily edit your text.
To create a new text box:
To edit an existing text box:
To move a text box or arrow:
To delete a text box:
The Add Annotation text box lets you edit text and choose a font, size, text style and colour. Text boxes can have a transparent or opaque background, and you can have a solid frame in the foreground (text) colour. You can attach a line to the text box - and there is a choice of "anchor" points; at the other end of the line you can display an arrowhead, if you wish.
It is possible for a text box to have multiple lines of text - but please note that the text boxes do not automatically wrap text; you must explicitly enter carriage returns (by pressing the return key on your keyboard) when entering the text into the dialog's Edit Text field.
The positions of text boxes and associated lines/arrows are defined in a relative sense to the rest of the graphics window. This means that text boxes maintain their correct relative positions when the graphics window is resized or when you copy or print graphics at high resolution.
Applying Labels to Individual Atoms
You can attach labels to individual atoms, using either the Info Window (allows labelling of groups of atoms by site or element), or by using the arrow or other selection tools to select the requisite atoms, followed by the Selection > Show Label command. (To hide existing atom labels, select the labelled atoms, then choose the Selection > Hide Label command.)
Adding Vectors to Individual Atoms
CrystalMaker allows you to display one or more vectors from any atom, using the Selection > Add Vector command. More information about using vectors.
